Football

Football, commonly referred to as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The game is played on a rectangular field known as a pitch, with the objective of scoring goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. Players primarily use their feet to move the ball, although they can also use their heads and torsos to control it; only goalkeepers are allowed to use their hands within their penalty area.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). It is one of the most popular sports worldwide, played at both amateur and professional levels, with numerous domestic and international competitions, including the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, and various national leagues. The sport emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness, making it a significant cultural phenomenon in many countries.
