Football

Football, also known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Players primarily use their feet to pass, dribble, and shoot the ball, but they can also use other parts of their body, except for the arms and hands, which are restricted to the goalkeeper within their penalty area.

Football is governed by a set of rules called the Laws of the Game, maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is one of the most popular and widely watched in the world, with professional leagues, international tournaments like the FIFA World Cup, and numerous grassroots activities across many countries. Football emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and skill, making it a beloved pastime and a significant cultural phenomenon globally.
